-ORIGIN- I started Moviesludge as a horror-gore blog after seeing “Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever” and “The Deadly Spawn” within a few days of each other. I was doing mostly movie gifs, but I set aside a specific day of the week to create gifs of non-movie stuff. I used to call it “Miscellaneous Monday”. But Absolutefucker convinced me to do away with it and just post whatever whenever.
So I create gifs of movies, tv, cartoons,video games, music videos, and commercials on this blog. Sometimes I’ll mix video game sprites with cartoons or movies and other different stuff. I’ve recently warmed up to reblogging and posting screencaps too.
-MOVIES VS REALITY- I post a lot of movie gore, but will never post pictures of real dead people or injuries. I don’t think it’s entertaining and don’t understand people that do. When I see posts like this from people I follow, they get unfollowed 9/10 times. I don’t like seeing it.
-REPOSTING- I don’t mind having people repost my gifs without crediting me, but if I ask them for credit and they refuse, I do mind. It is ridiculously easy to reblog or credit anyway. There is an effort in making gifs, and if you like one enough to put it on your blog, there’s no reason why you can’t reblog or credit the gif creator. If you choose not to reblog and not to credit, you’re just being lazy and disrespectful. I’m wary of any blog that supports an uncrediting, reposting blog (that is run by someone with a shitty attitude).
-WATERMARKING- Having said the above, I choose not to watermark the gifs I make. The majority of gifs I’ve made on this blog are from the work of someone else, so it feels a little presumptuous to put my name on most of them. Plus, they look better without watermarks. There are a lot of people who go out of their way to credit me when I get reposted, and I always appreciate that.
