About The Wheelers from Return to Oz,

I was never as afraid of them as I was of Mombi (or Large Marge), but they did creep me out. I did read some of the Oz books years later though. The whole thing about the Wheelers is that even though they seem really scary, they can’t do anything to you because all they have are wheels. Baum talks about that in the book, but it’s never completely clarified in the movie. I love and hate that. I guess the way the filmmakers took the Wheelers’ thunder was by giving it to Mombi instead of just writing them off completely. Fucking Jean Marsh, man. She was Mombi and Bavmorda from Willow. Finding out that those two creepy movie characters from my childhood were the same actress made my head explode. And then, I found out that the good sorceress from Willow (Fin Raziel) was also Urgl from The NeverEnding Story (the little old woman that makes Atreyu drink that medicine slop). Patricia Hayes.
